I will open the Firmware updater program, unplug my ProTools interface, and plug in the Faderport. In the device list it always comes up as 'FaderPort Update Mode,' with an error sign next to it, and says that it cannot find the driver. ![]() Mar 28, 2011 - i have connected my faderport and it gets to the 4th step in the firmwire updater and it will not pass the step because the faderport driver could. ![]() Even if I do have Windows search for it again in troubleshooting, it never finds it. I can get the Faderport to flash its lights and what not, but I always get stuck at Step 4, were it says that Windows will install the Driver. When I do try to click 'Next' it says 'Error: Could not find Faderport Control Surface. Check the cables to ensure that it is properly connected and then press Next to try again.' I've tried other usb ports on the computer, and using a hub won't get it picked up by the computer at all. Is there a way that anyone knows of finding some kind of driver for this that Windows will recognize? Going to the mat. I've looked all over Google, and can't seem to find anyone who's had problems this early on. An original suite gordon jacob program notes. You need to have your Pro Tools Interface Connected to PC and turned On. Plug Faderport into its own USB connector on PC and Make sure Power Supply for faderport is connected to faderport during install. Follow on screen instructions to updat firmware. In Hardwaretab from Windows I see the 'USB Audio Device', but not in the Sounds and Audio Device Properties under MIDI music playback. Have uninstalled the device several times with reboot to install the device again. Seems to be recognise the device, but not as Audio one. On onother PC the Device is working good. I think it's a OS issue, but no solution for now. BTW: This one can maybe helpful, but not for me anymore. Once upon a time it was helpful. I have actually got mine to work now (the same day I bought it!! Got to be a record or something!?). Im gonna try to explain what i did (what didn't i do?) in hope that it might help anyone. The problem seam to be that my computer (with windows XP SP3) did not recognize the device as 'faderport'. Every time it installed the windows driver it was named 'USB Audio Device' and because of that, i reckon, the firmware installer did not find the faderport. I actually uninstalled all midi related drivers on my computer (sound card, midikeyboard, automap and so on).
